OVERVIEW

“the pulse beneath”

this project focuses on transforming early childhood learning into a multi-sensory experience through textures, vibrations, and movement. located in peninsula plaza, it reimagines education by reconnecting children and teachers with their sensory surroundings.

the project features five interactive zones that engage touch, sound, and motion, promoting exploration, emotional awareness, and collaboration. by incorporating tactile elements and sensory-based installations, it creates an immersive environment where learning is experienced as much as it is observed.

ZONING

the zoning is organized as a sensory journey, beginning with the terrain corridor, which activates balance and movement, and transitioning into the weave, a tactile zone that encourages touch and exploration. the harmonic field introduces sound and vibration as interactive experiences, leading into the resonance corner, a focused sensory nook that heightens attention and emotional awareness.

the journey concludes at stillpoint haven, a calming space designed for grounding, rest, and quiet regulation

PHYSICAL SLICE MODEL

using simple materials at home, i created a physical slice model that represents the sensory layers of my project, with each texture and form symbolizing vibrations, movement, & sound. this captures the essence of my project in a tactile way.

WEARABLE DEVICE

this wearable device was created to record and translate real-time tactile interactions into visual data, helping users become more aware of subtle vibrations and surface textures. by experimenting with different materials and sensor placements, the device captures how the environment “feels” through movement and touch. it serves as a tool to study sensory perception, revealing the hidden rhythms and vibrations that inspired the spatial design of the pulse beneath.
